Friday, January 7th, was a scary one for me. As usual, twice a week I do a grocery shopping at night (I wait until my boys sleep at 7:00 pm), have my dinner and then go out. Last night I was so lazy to go out…. Sam told me that some roads are slippery and that the snow in our driveway was so high….but we didn’t have any milk and almost out of bread (I didn’t feel good for a couple of days that was why I hesitated to go out).
But anyway, I went out last night…sure enough, the snow in our driveway was talll and I had a hard time getting out my car from the garage (also because Sam’s car was parked outside making me have to do some trick to get my car out). With some effort I managed to get my car out from the garage and off the driveway….it was slippery and the back wheel were spinning a lot. But I see that the road was clear and not too slippery…. a good thing.
Then I drove to the Meijer (grocery store) and what I like to go out at night is that there is not much traffic at that time (I went out about 9:15 pm).
I arrived in Meijer, did the shopping and 1,5 hours later went back to the car with the cart full of supplies.
I started the engine and driving…. I pulled out nicely from the parking lot…and when I came to the the Meijer driveway I felt that the road was a bit slippery…. I tried to stabilize my car and turned right…but sure enough when I was on the main street the road was slippery…. my car was skidding….slidding….and I tried to steer and keep it on my lane… then because it skid too much my car went to the other lane and yes, other car bumped my car from the back. And it pushed my car out of the road, hit the fence and electricity pole and went to the wood a bit and stopped because it hit a big tree there… the wire from the electricity pole was dangling over my car and made the ‘buzz’ noise. I was scared but grateful that I was ok…. I opened the door and climbed up to the street and people kept yelling and warned me to get away from the car quickly because of the electriciy wire still dangling over me. WOW……..
People came to me and make sure I was ok…. I didn’t turn off the engine either because I was panic. Then somebody there called the police and there were 4 police cars, one fire truck and many people around me….. I called my husband and he told me what to do and to talk to the police. I was so freezing and shocked…but somehow I could manage to remain calm and easy. After questions and arranging things, the police offered me to sit in their car….. well, at least I could feel the police’s passenger car (believe me, not a comfortable size of the room there). My husband couldn’t pick me up right away because he has to arrange people to come to our house and stay with the boys.
Then, the towing car came and towed my car…… wow,…..the bumper was damaged badly, the front wheel was bended and the side door was in a poor shape.
The towing people was very friendly and kind and offered me to sit inside his truck which was very warm and comfortable compare to the outside…..
I called my husband and he said his friend would come and watch the children as our babysitter wasn’t in town. Gosshhhh….
And 20 minutes later Sam came… I was so happy to see him….. He took over everything and then drove me home……
He felt sorry for the accident and glad that I was ok……
What a night……..
It is so good to be home….with my loving husband and wonderful boys…. Thank you God…thank you….
