New small camera for me…. July 8, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — annedowns @ 4:14 pm

Yippie…yesterday when Sam and River got home from poppa-son day out, Sam bought me a new camera. It is to replace the camera that got stolen in Bogor, Indonesia. This time we got Canon SD850IS based on the good review and it takes 30/second picture on jpeg.
So, I hope this would be a nice little camera that can do the good job.

Thanks Hon…

So, because of that I will not be using my Sony T7 camera. Sam said that the boys can have it.
Well, it is a good camera for sure.

Weekend July 7, 2007

Lately I have been very lazy to update this blog. Maybe because I was busy? or? not in the mood?
Oh well….

We are busy arranging the moving plan. Sam will go to Austin next week and that means that I will be here with the boys and arrange things from AL.
Oh well, although I have been doing this 4 times already, still feel nervous and stress.

The boys will go to another Vacation Bible School next week. Yippiee…means, more time for me to get busy by myself….

Yesterday I went to the License plate office. They sent us mail that we had duplicate plates and they wanted us to return the plate by mail. Sam and I were concerned about that, because we will be moving to TX in a month. So, I decided to go to the local License plate and made the exchange there.
The place was packed with people…. long line… I mean, LOOOONNNGGGG Line. I was concerned that the boys would be restless and acting up, but after I gave Jonah my cellphone so he could play with the calculator in it and I talked to River a lot, the waiting was not too bad. Thank God we could get our plate exchanged there, otherwise, long line, long time wasted.

After that we went to the grocery stores to pick up some stuff and ate lunch at McDonald. The boys got to play in the playset there…nice.

It was raining by the time we reached home. Pouring rain is always nice to me, reminding me of my Bogor city….. I miss Indonesia and the people there already.

So, no plan for today…but we’ll see… Sam still sleeps…so, wait until he gets up.

Until then…. take care.

EBay Classified-Ad Site to Rival Craigslist
By VAUHINI VARA
July 5, 2007; Page B4

Online auctioneer eBay Inc. has quietly opened a classifieds Web site in the U.S., its first foray stateside into an area that has been dominated by the scrappy Craigslist Inc.

On Friday, San Jose, Calif.-based eBay opened a U.S. version of Kijiji, the online-classifieds site it launched overseas in February 2005. Until now, Kijiji was available in certain countries in Europe and Asia, as well as in Canada, but not in the U.S.

Kijiji, available in 220 cities in all 50 states, looks barebones compared with the main eBay site. While that site is covered with images and links, Kijiji features mostly text, calling out sections like “for sale,” “community,” and “jobs.” For now, anyone can post an ad for free, said eBay spokesman Hani Durzy, though the company plans to explore ways to make money, for instance by charging for display ads or premium services for sellers.

The U.S. site puts eBay in closer competition with Craigslist, the Web-classifieds site that was founded in 1995 by a San Francisco resident named Craig Newmark and has since expanded internationally.

EBay in 2004 bought close to a 25% stake in Craigslist from a former Craigslist employee and has closely watched that company in recent years to learn from its success, Mr. Durzy said. EBay has been “very happy with the financial and strategic returns” from the investment but sees room for more Web-classifieds players in the U.S., he said.

“We look at Kijiji as being competitive with Craigslist as well as the other classified platforms in the U.S.,” Mr. Durzy said.

EBay owns other international classifieds sites, including Marktplaats.nl in the Netherlands, Loquo in Spain and Gumtree in England, Australia and New Zealand, and Mr. Durzy said eBay plans to look into expanding those sites into the U.S. as well.

4th July BBQ at our home July 5, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — annedowns @ 4:02 pm

One day after the 4th of July…..

Yesterday we had a gathering with the Garcias and the de Jongs… Everybody showed up on time…very nice.
We chatted, played and did the bbq. There were lots of food and laughter and chit chat…. very nice.

We forgot to take any pictures….so, that was unfortunate.

Everybody wished us the best for our moving and being very supportive.

Thank you Sam and Amy Garcia, along with their children, Megan and Daniel. Thank you too to de Jongs (Gerard, Anita and Meggy) for coming by.
You are wonderful….

It is sad to part with friends, but we have to go where God lead us to go…

Praise God.

Sadar lah… July 4, 2007

Bless them….

We are moving to Austin, TX…. July 1, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — annedowns @ 4:49 pm

Yes, we are moving to Austin, TX. After spending time choosing the good place to settle down and exploring some job offers and opportunities, we decided to go to Austin, TX. Sam took a permanent job so we can start to settle down. I am very excited because Austin is my number one choice over some cities that we also got offers. God had lead us to the good city and I thank Him always.

So, about one month from now we will be in Austin, TX…if all goes well and I believe they will.

The Company will cover all the relocation (including shipping my car and our dog, tickets, full moving stuff and storage, temporary housing, etc…). Nice to be able to sit back and get everything taking care of.

So, again, Thank you God…..
